Western Sydney festival SOUND WEST is set to take place later this year, combining music and tech over a five-day program.

As part of this year’s festival, SOUND West and Sony Music Australia have announced an initiative to discover and help bolster the careers of emerging talent, with one local artist receiving a six-month A&R mentorship program with Sony Music Australia, offering both creative and business mentoring along with studio recording time.

Artists who are keen can submit links to up to three samples of their work here, with a panel of industry figures choosing 10 semi-finalists who will be invited to attend a mentorship session at SOUND WEST in August with Alexander Franco, Senior Director of A&R and Creative Development at Sony Music Australia.

A winner will be selected to receive the mentorship program, which includes four free studio session at Sony Music studios with an in-house engineer, mentoring sessions with A&R and introductions to local producers.

“This partnership is a great way for our team to help emerging Australian talent by giving them access to our global reach and decades of expertise to help kick-start their music careers,” said Franco.

“Sound West is going to be a landmark event for Parramatta, and a career-defining moment for one talented artist through this incredible initiative,” commented City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Donna Davis.

SOUND WEST is set to run across five days, from Tuesday, 24th to Sunday, 28th August across the City of Parramatta. The landmark festival will feature live performances from both establish and emerging artists and a conference that includes sessions, workshops and mentoring from tech brands and music industry leaders alike.
