Twiddle on Tuesday detailed the band’s fifth studio album, Every Last Leaf, due out on August 12th via No Coincidence Records. The announcement arrives alongside a new single, “Beautiful”.
Every Last Leaf will mark Twiddle’s first studio album since 2017’s Plump (Chapters 1 & 2). As such, the 15-track double LP showcases the growth Mihali Savoulidis (vocals, guitar), Ryan Dempsey (keyboards), Brook Jordan (drums), and Zdenek Gubb (bass) have experienced over the past half-decade.
“Every Last Leaf is a metaphor for life,” Mihali said. “When a leaf falls to the ground, something will grow from it. Everything is part of this grand circle. In the music, we’re exploring all of life’s sides—from the sad and angry to the proud and happy.”
The wisdom of 18 years together as a band shines through on the latest single, “Beautiful”. The delicate songwriting carries the innocence of a modern Disney composition, while also conveying the wistful tranquility gleaned from the decades Mihali has spent honing his voice.
“I was in the cabin, and I took what was happening around me and incorporated it within the lyrics,” Mihali said of the single. “I rattled off everything I thought was beautiful, including family and my wife. I thought, ‘All of that is well and good, but nothing is as beautiful as you guys are’. As bad as things can be, there’s always beauty in life; you just need to look for it.”
