Lucius performed on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert and welcomed Sheryl Crow, Celisse and members of Late Show band Stay Human for the appearance. Lucius frontwomen Jess Wolfe, Holly Laessig and company delivered “Dance Around It” for the late night television play.
“Dance Around It” appears on Lucius’ recently released album, Second Nature, which arrived on April 8. Laessig and Wolfe shared the single for “Dance Around It” in March with the studio version boasting contributions from Crow and Brandi Carlile. For their Late Show performance, Crow joined Jess and Holly who also welcomed singer-songwriter Celisse Henderson — who begins her tour supporting Lucius tonight in NYC — to sing on the Second Nature single.
Regarding the performance, Lucius posted the below message to social media:
The news from SCOTUS was not lost on us while we were singing on [The Late Show] last night. It is, simply put, heartbreaking. This record was written in an effort to pull us through the darkness, not to ignore it, or pretend it doesn’t exist. We will keep doing our part to see that our basic human rights are maintained. We stand in solidarity with everyone marching and voting for change. A very special thank you to our musical fam, heroes and friends: [Sheryl Crow] and [Celisse] We are beyond grateful for your friendship and support.
