Eagles Welcome Deacon Frey In Arnhem & Liverpool

77

Deacon Frey joined the Eagles for three songs at each of the first two stops on the band’s current tour of Europe. The son of late Eagles co-founder Glenn Frey sat-in with the group at Gelredome in Arnhem, Netherlands on Friday and reprised the feat on Monday at Anfield in Liverpool, England.

The guest appearances came less than three months after the Eagles announced Deacon Frey left the band. Deacon and Vince Gill became members of the Eagles in 2017 following Glenn Frey’s tragic death due to complications of rheumatoid arthritis, acute ulcerative colitis and pneumonia. The pair first performed with the Eagles in July of 2017 in Los Angeles at the Classic West concerts.

Back in February, the Eagles announced Deacon Frey would not perform with the band on their 2022 Hotel California Tour after due to health issues. At the time, the band noted Deacon would return to the stage when “his recovery” and “doctor’s recommendations” allowed.

Then, on April 6, the Eagles posted a note on social media stating, “after some weeks of reflection, [Deacon] now feels that it is time for him to forge his own path.” The announcement also mentioned, “Deacon’s Eagles Family will always be here to surround him with love, support and goodwill, and he is always welcome to join us onstage at any future concerts, if he so desires.”

On Friday, Deacon Frey emerged towards the middle of the Eagles’ 23-song concert in Arnhem for “Peaceful Easy Feeling.” Deacon returned for “Take It Easy” later in the set as well as for the evening’s “Already Gone” finale as per Best Classic Band’s report. The 28-year-old musician sat-in with the Eagles on the same three songs last night in Liverpool.
