Foo Fighters Announce Taylor Hawkins Tribute Shows In London And Los Angeles

Foo Fighters‘ Dave Grohl, Nate Mendel, Pat Smear, Chris Shiflett and Rami Jaffee have announced they’ll unite with the family of their late drummer, Taylor Hawkins, to celebrate the musician’s life, music and memory with a pair of tribute concerts.

Set to take place Saturday, 3rd September at London’s Wembley Stadium and Tuesday, 27th September at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, the all-star tribute shows will feature Hawkins’ bandmates, his family as well as fellow musicians he “idolized”,  playing “the songs that he fell in love with, and the ones he brought to life.” Specific lineups for each show will be announced shortly.

Hawkins, who joined Foo Fighters in 1997 and played on each of the band’s records between third studio album There Is Nothing Left to Lose in 1999 up until last year’s Medicine at Midnight, died in March of this year in Bogotá, Colombia, where the band had been scheduled to play a festival.

“The Foo Fighters family is devastated by the tragic and untimely loss of our beloved Taylor Hawkins,” read a statement from the band confirming the drummer’s death at the time. “His musical spirit and infectious laughter will live on with all of us forever.” In light of the tragedy, they went on to cancel all scheduled tour dates and a planned performance at this year’s Grammys.

Following Hawkins’ death, there was an outpouring of tributes from across the world of music, with the likes of Paul McCartney, Billie Eilish, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Pearl Jam all honouring the drummer.
