Guns N’ Roses Debut AC/DC Cover & Play Rarities At Tour Opener In Portugal

Guns N’ Roses took the stage for their first performance of 2022 on Saturday to launch their European tour at Passeio Marítimo de Algés in, Oeiras, Portugal. The band led by Axl Rose debuted a cover of AC/DC’s “Walk All Over You” and dusted off “Reckless Life” and the original version of “You’re Crazy” after 30 years as part of their 27-song performance in Portugal.

Rose previously toured with AC/DC in 2016 while singer Brian Johnson dealt with health issues. “Walk All Over You,” which AC/DC originally released on 1979’s Highway To Hell, was not one of the songs Axl sang with the band. GN’R premiered their take on the tune towards the middle of last night’s main set.

“Walk All Over You” came a few songs after GN’R’s first “Reckless Life” since 1993. “Reckless Life” appears on the live half of Guns N’ Roses’ Lies EP. The band went heavy on classics for the remainder of their main set, including “It’s So Easy,” “Mr. Brownstone,” “Welcome To The Jungle,” “Sweet Child O’ Mine,” “November Rain” and “Nightrain.” Additionally, the frame featured covers of Wings’ “Live & Let Die,” The Stooges’ “I Wanna Be Your Dog” and Bob Dylan’s “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door.” Guns N’ Roses dedicated “Civil War” to those suffering in the Ukraine.

Last night’s encore began with a “Patience” featuring The Beatles’ “Blackbird” woven into its intro. Next up was the original Appetite For Destruction version of “You’re Crazy.” The faster-paced take hadn’t been performed live since 1991. Guns N’ Roses ended the encore and tour opener with “Paradise City.”
