H.E.R. Covers Sly & The Family Stone’s “Dance To The Music” For ‘Minions’ Sequel [Listen]

57

H.E.R. reimagines the Sly and The Family Stone classic “Dance To The Music” on the latest single from the Minions: Rise of Gru soundtrack. The sequel to the Despicable Me spin-off and its Jack Antonoff (Bleachers)-produced soundtrack are out on July 1st.

“Dance To The Music” strikes at the heart of what made the Minions: Rise of Gru soundtrack so intriguing, with headlining musicians tackling covers of some of the most celebrated songs of yesteryear. H.E.R. builds the funk classic from the ground up, starting with the drums and adding one piece at a time, including a little guitar “to make it easy to move your feet,” and a chorus of horns that carries her across the finish line of the song’s all-too-short sub-three-minute runtime.
