Jacob Collier released a new single, “Never Gonna Be Alone,” that features Dead & Company guitarist John Mayer. Collier co-wrote the song with Lizzy McAlpine, who also contributed vocals to the track.
“Never Gonna Be Alone” is the first new original music released by Collier in 2022. The song marks the singer-songwriter’s first official single since the 2020 release of his album, Djesse Vol. 3, which was nominated for the Grammy Award for Album of the Year.
Collier shared the below statement regarding “Never Gonna Be Alone”:
“Here’s a song I wrote last year, in the depths of lockdown, with my dear friend Lizzy McAlpine. I wanted to explore the deep, vivid emotional world of isolation, loss and memory, blurring the lines between reality and imagination, by piecing together a tapestry of soft orchestral sounds. It speaks to my experience of the world as a hugely beautiful and fragile place, and has helped me process some of the grief I think we’re all feeling for our pasts and futures, in a myriad of different ways.”
