Justin Bieber Postpones U.S. Arena Tour Due To Facial Paralysis

73

Justin Bieber has postponed all of his upcoming June and July U.S. tour dates following his recent diagnosis with Ramsey Hunt Syndrome, which can cause facial paralysis. Bieber had already called off arena shows in New York, NY, Philadelphia, PA, and more due to his condition.

According to the announcement from the pop hitmaker’s Justice Tour on Thursday, “In light of Justin’s ongoing recovery, the remaining US Justice Tour shows scheduled for June and early July will be postponed. Justing continues to receive the best medical care possible, is upbeat about his recovery, and is looking forward to getting back out on the road and performing for his fans overseas later this summer.”

The statement added that details about rescheduled dates for the axed June/July U.S. arena run will be announced shortly, with refunds offered at point of purchase and all previously purchased tickets honored at the corresponding new dates. Of note, many of these now-postponed-again Justice tour dates were already hold-overs from 2020 and 2021’s various COVID-related postponements.

As Bieber explained in a video posted on June 10th in which his facial paralysis is clearly apparent, “It is from this virus that attacks the nerve in my ear and my facial nerves and has caused my face to have paralysis.”

“As you can see,” he continued, gesturing to the right side of his face, “this eye is not blinking, I can’t smile on this side of my face, this nostril won’t move. So, there’s full paralysis in my face. So, for those who are frustrated by my cancellations of the next shows, I’m just physically, obviously, not capable of doing them. This is pretty serious, as you can see. I wish this wasn’t the case, but obviously my body is telling me I gotta slow down, and I hope you guys understand.”

“I’m gonna get better,” Bieber added. “I’m doing all these facial exercises to get my face back to normal, and it will go back to normal, it’s just time, and we don’t know how much time it’s gonna be.” Watch the video below.

As of now, Justin Bieber is scheduled to resume his tour in Italy on July 31st. For a full list of upcoming dates, head here.
