Madison Cunningham will issue a new album, Revealer, via Verve Forecast on September 9. The singer-songwriter also shared a new single, “Hospital,” along with the album announcement.
Revealer follows two Grammy-nominated records from the singer-songwriter — the 2019 LP Who Are You Now and the extended version of her 2020 EP Wednesday. Cunningham tapped familiar collaborators for the new album including renowned producer Mike Elizondo (Twenty One Pilots, Gary Clark Jr.), longtime producer and collaborator Tyler Chester and Tucker Martine (Neko Case, Sufjan Stevens).
“To me, ‘revealer’ is the binding theme of the album,” Cunningham said of the new LP. “The hand that slowly chips away at the mirror in which you see yourself and the world and replaces it with the reflection that is most true.”
Madison previously released Revealer single “Anywhere” and now further previews the record with “Hosptial.”
“Hospital is written from this sort of half awake, slightly drunken, on the cusp of a nervous breakdown perspective,” Madison added about the new single. “I think ultimately it speaks to the impossible condition of being sedated with information and trying to hold onto your sanity.”
“Hospital” arrived with an accompanying music video directed by Caitlin Gerard. Watch it below:
