Pearl Jam will issue an expanded version of the band’s 2020 album Gigaton with the new Gigaton (Tour Edition). Out on July 8th, the release will feature the original 12-track studio LP and 11 live cuts recorded on the band’s most recent tour.
Gigaton (Tour Edition) will also arrive in an LP/CD hybrid physical format in independent record stores across the country with the original album on vinyl and the live release on compact disc. The live CD will contain only 11 of the original 12 songs, leaving off the album-opening “Who Ever Said”. Members of Pearl Jam’s Ten Club can order a standalone CD beginning on July 8th.
After releasing Gigaton in late March 2020, Pearl Jam was forced to wait nearly a year-and-a-half before performing the songs live. The band’s concert on September 18th, 2021 headlining Sea.Hear.Now. arrived as the group’s first since 2018 and ushered in a flurry of activity which included a new Eddie Vedder solo album, Earthling, and associated tour featuring a backing band with members of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jane’s Addiction, and more.

When Pearl Jam finally set out on a long-awaited North American tour back in May 2022, it was still not immune to the perils of the COVID era. Almost immediately, COVID-induced substitutions brought up a stable of ringers from original drummer Dave Krusen to a rotating cast of lucky fans who filled in for Matt Cameron. Pearl Jam was finally forced to cancel its last two May North American shows after bassist Jeff Ament tested positive for COVID. The group is currently overseas touring Europe but will return to North America in September.
Pre-orders for Gigatin (Tour Edition) are open through Record Store Day.
