Tenacious D released a “The Who Medley” featuring portions of three The Who classics. Jack Black and Kyle Gass linked “Pinball Wizard,” “There’s A Doctor” and “Go To The Mirror!” for their Who covers medley and issued the track as a limited edition 7″ vinyl with proceeds going towards Everytown For Gun Safety.
All three songs were originally issued by The Who as part of their Tommy rock opera album in 1969. “Who better to deliver a tribute to the greatest rock opera of all times? Who? The D! That’s Who!! We’ve been working on this medley for 20 years,” wrote Tenacious D in a press release. “It’s finally ready to be unleashed. Crank it. It’s a humdinger. Enjoy.”
“The Who Medley” follows past Tenacious D charity cover endeavours with “Time Warp” benefitting Rock The Vote in 2020 and proceeds from a 2021 Beatles medley going towards Doctors Without Borders.
Tenacious D opens the June leg of their 2022 Tour at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival on June 16. The group will follow the June run with September tour dates.
