The Roots, Killer Mike, Earth, Wind & Fire, More To Celebrate Juneteenth At Hollywood Bowl

The RootsKiller Mike, Earth, Wind & Fire will lead a diverse lineup of musicians in celebration of Juneteenth with a concert at the Hollywood Bowl. The June 19th marathon performance dubbed Juneteenth: A Global Celebration of Freedom will commemorate 157 years since the liberation of Black people in the United States.

Also on tap for the Juneteenth performance in Los Angeles are Anthony HamiltonBilly PorterDebbie Allen Dance AcademyJhené AikoLucky DayeMary MaryMichelle WilliamsMickey GuytonRobert Glasper, and The Re-collective Orchestra, with special guests to be announced. The 68-piece Orchestra will be the first all-Black orchestra to perform at the Hollywood Bowl in its 100-year history. Presented by Live Nation Urban and the L.A. PhilharmonicQuestlove (The Roots) and Adam Blackstone (Nicki Minaj, Justin Timberlake) will serve as musical directors.

“This is the most important event we’ve ever produced at Live Nation Urban,” president Shawn Gee in a statement. “It’s a moment to celebrate and reflect on Black independence and the Black experience. It’s also a moment to raise awareness and shine light on the miles we still need to travel to true equity. We hope to see you there.”

Tickets for Juneteenth: A Global Celebration of Freedom at Hollywood Bowl are on sale hereCNN will broadcast the concert live beginning at 8 p.m. ET.
