They Might Be Giants Postpone Tour Dates Due To ‘Serious Car Accident’

87

They Might Be Giants postponed their June tour dates. The band’s John Linnell took to social media to announce that fellow founding member John Flansburgh was in a “rather serious car accident.”

While it appears that Flansburgh will be okay, Linnell noted that he suffered “seven broken ribs, several of which have multiple fractures.” “The good news is,” Linnell continued,” is that no vital organs were involved…there will be a lengthy recovery process,” he added. The accident took place while Flansburgh was on his way home from a gig. They Might Be Giants performed at New York City’s Bowery Ballroom on Wednesday, which was their first show of 2022.

While the band has postponed the remainder of their June concerts, Linnell said “we are hopeful that the late summer dates beginning August 30 will be able to continue as planned.” While Linnell made his post earlier today, Flansburgh took to TMBG’s social accounts an hour ahead of this writing to explain the accident and further detail his condition.
