The 25th anniversary of Comedy Central animated television series South Park will be celebrated with concerts featuring Primus and Ween at the famed Red Rocks Amphitheatre outside Denver on Tuesday, August 9 and Wednesday, August 10. Tickets for the 10th sold out shortly after the event was announced in March. Those who signed up for tickets will receive an email with pre sale info for the show on the 9th. South Park co-creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker will also participate in the events which is expected to feature performances of songs from the beloved series. “We’re so excited to go home and play at Red Rocks, a place that’s been known for hosting the most legendary Artists and Musicians. Until now,” exclaimed Stone and Parker.

Debuting on August 13, 1997, Comedy Central has aired over 300 South Park episodes leading into the season finale of its 25th season last night. Primus wrote and recorded the show’s theme song. Frontman Les Claypool is depicted singing the “South Park Theme” in early seasons of the series and has made a handful of appearances on South Park. An episode in South Park’s second season, “Chef Aid,” features Primus and Ween performing at a benefit concert for the character Chef. 1998’s Chef Aid: The South Park Album includes Ween’s “The Rainbow” and Primus’ “South Park Theme” and “Mephesto and Kevin.”
