Watch Phish Perform 18-Minute ‘Light’ In Charleston: Pro-Shot Video

Phish shared pro-shot video of the expansive “Light” from Tuesday night in Charleston, South Carolina. The well-jammed 18-minute version came during the second set at Credit One Stadium.

“Light” was debuted exactly 13 years to the day prior at Fenway Park in Boston. The song penned by lyricist Tom Marshall and guitarist Trey Anastasio has been a trusted jam vehicle ever since with a total of 108 versions played. Phish recorded the song for inclusion on their 2009 studio album, Joy.

JamBase’s Court Scott described the adventurous “Light” in her recap:

At 18 minutes, the second-longest song of the night, “Light,” tenderly progressed before the band ventured into a more jazzy Type II wah-driven jam that pivoted to a curious, seeking section driven by Fish’s polyrhythms. Toward the end of the tune, Mike appeared to want to lean into Kasvot Växt’s “Passing Through,” but appeared to be rebuffed.
