Belle & Sebastian appeared on NPR Music’s Tiny Desk Concert series. The band from Glasgow, Scotland delivered songs from their new album, A Bit Of Previous, and more.
The beloved video performance series recently returned to Bob Boilen’s desk at NPR headquarters in Washington D.C following a two-year absence during the pandemic. As Boilen noted, Belle & Sebastian frontman Stuart Murdoch was a bit apprehensive about bringing the full band behind the iconic workspace due to Tiny Desk not using monitors and with an eight-piece band it was difficult for him to hear his voice.
But things worked out fine and Murdoch led the group through a stellar rendition of A Bit Of Previous lead single “Unnecessary Drama” to kick off the session. Belle & Sebastian also delivered the closer from their new LP, “Working Boy in New York City,” as well as the album’s fourth track, “Reclaim The Night.” Murdoch and compnay closed out the session with a classic cut, “Judy and the Dream of Horses,” off their 1996 record If You’re Feeling Sinister.
