Dave Matthews Band dusted off “Fool To Think” to open their concert in Camden, New Jersey on Friday. The song featured on DMB’s Everyday album had not been performed since 2019.
Friday was the septet’s first show of a two-night stand at Freedom Mortgage Pavilion. “Fool To Think” was previously played on June 29, 2019 and last opened a DMB concert on July 21, 2004 as per DMB Almanac. Another tour debut followed as “Big Eyed Fish” saw action for the first time in 2022. Dave Matthews then led the ensemble on the third “Bartender” of the summer.
The 20-song concert continued with “Samurai Cop (Oh Joy Begin)” off 2018’s Come Tomorrow and fan favorite trilogy “So Much To Say” > “Anyone Seen The Bridge” > “Too Much.” After pairing “Sweet” and “Rooftop,” DMB delivered a 20-minute “Seek Up.” Later in the set, the seven-piece played the recently revived numbers “What You Are” and “Everyday” before closing the frame with staple “Don’t Drink The Water.” Camden fans were treated to a two-song encore consisting of “Sister” and “Ants Marching” on Friday.
Saturday’s Camden finale featured the tour’s first “Raven” among a bevy of classics. Matthews went solo to get the encore underway with his take on the traditional “Rye Whiskey” and then brought back the band for “All Along The Watchtower.”
