Khruangbin and Quantic reimagined Booker T. & The M.G.s’ “Green Onions” for a cover available for streaming and download exclusively on Amazon Music. The Houston-based trio and Brooklyn-based DJ/Composer recorded the song to honor its 60th anniversary.
The instrumental “Green Onions” was penned by Booker T. Jones, Steve Cropper, Lewie Steinberg and Al Jackson Jr. Booker T. & The M.G.’s initially issued the cut in May 1962 on Stax subsidiary Volt before the main label reissued “Green Onions” the following August. Khruangbin and Quantic join a long line of artists who have covered the iconic song that includes Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Count Basie, Johnny Thunders and King Curtis.

Khruangbin’s Space Walk Tour 2022 continues tonight in Bend, Oregon. The “Green Onions” cover came with word that the trio will release more music this year.
