The Black Crowes brought out ’s Peter Buck and Soundgarden’s Kim Thayil during their concert last night near Seattle. The collaborations took place as part of the evening’s encore at Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery Amphitheatre in Woodinville, Washington.
Buck was the first guest to emerge and added guitar to a performance of R.E.M.’s “The One I Love.” Tuesday’s collab appears to be the first time The Black Crowes covered the song by the fellow Georgia-born band. Buck stuck around as frontman Chris Robinson welcomed Thayil to the stage. The Soundgarden guitarist augmented a cover of The Velvet Underground’s “Rock And Roll.”
“We’re gonna do this song – in all of our respective bands, we grew up loving this group and this song and we hope you know it,” Robinson said while introducing “Rock And Roll.”

Prior to the encore, the show started with a complete performance of The Black Crowes’ 1990 debut album, Shake Your Money Maker. The band followed with a handful of additional favorites, “Thorn in My Pride,” “Wiser for the time,” “Been a Long Time (Waiting on Love)” and “Remedy.” The band’s tour continues Thursday in Bend, Oregon.
