Rage Against The Machine frontman Zack de la Rocha continued performing despite suffering an apparent painful leg injury during the band’s concert Monday in Chicago. The vocalist performed most of the concert at the United Center seated atop a monitor, appearing to be unable to stand on the injured limb.
Monday’s show was the second stop on Rage Against The Machine’s Public Service Announcement Tour, which kicked off on Saturday at Alpine Valley Music Theatre. The twice pandemic-postponed reunion tour marks the band’s first performances in 11 years.

Rage Against The Machine Launches Reunion Tour With First Concert In 11 Years
Check out the setlist and videos from Rage Against The Machine’s first concert in 11 years, which took place at Alpine Valley Music Theatre in East Troy, Wisconsin on Saturday.
As noted by Consequence, RATM was four songs into their concert on Monday, performing “Bullet in the Head,” when de la Rocha exited the stage. Upon returning, he addressed the audience. According to the report, he told the Chicago crowd:
“I don’t know what happened to my leg right now. Straight up, but you know what? We’re gonna keep this fucking shit going. I can crawl across this stage. We’re gonna play for you all tonight.”
Monday’s setlist largely mirrored Saturday’s tour opener, with the exception of the addition of “Down Rodeo.” After the show closing “Killing In The Name,” guitarist Tom Morello, bassist Tim Commerford and drummer Brad Wilk embraced de la Rocha, showing appreciation to the frontman for his couragous effort.
Rage Against The Machine and de la Rocha are scheduled to perform at Chicago’s United Center again tonight, Tuesday, July 12. Watch video appearing to capture the moment de la Rocha injured himself as well as clips of his performing while seated atop a monitor:
