Throughout Schenectady County this summer, you’ll find free music series in towns big and small. Whether at Schenectady’s Central Park, Scotia’s Freedom Park or Glenville’s Park at Indian Meadows, the county offers multiple chances to see some great live music throughout the rest of the season.
After taking a year off due to the Covid pandemic, the town of Glenville has brought back the popular concert and movie series for August. The schedule this year features some great entertainment, with various live bands and a kid-favorite Tom and Jerry movie to close. The full schedule is available below:
August 5: 18 Strings of Trouble
August 12: Two Shoes Trio
August 19: Dixie Nisky Cats
August 26: 2096 Band
September Kids Movie: Tom and Jerry
Stewart’s Ice Cream will be served every night during the series compliments of Stewart’s Shops. The Daily Gazette is the media sponsor for the 2021 season. Each show has its own sponsors as well which include the Scotia BID, Senator Jim Tedisco and Assemblymember Mary Beth Walsh, Thistle Be Perfect Artisan Boutique, and the Glenville Town Fire Chiefs and the Glenville PBA. One sponsorship is still available and is $400.
New this year, the town will be offering “food truck nights” and will welcome Food Daddy on August 5 and The Hangry Scot on August 26. Glenville’s own KP Smokehouse BBQ will provide food on August 12, 19, and September 2. Wolf Hollow Brewery will also be in the park for the show on August 26.
The town launched the popular entertainment series four years ago. The event takes place in Indian Meadows Park, on Jason Morris Way. All performances start at 7:00 pm (the movie will start at dusk) and food will be available starting at 6:30 pm.
Schenectady’s Central Park also continues their summer concert series until August 27. After an impressive lineup of Steel Pulse, Nathan & the Zydeco Cha Chas, and Sammy Miller & The Congregation, the Lemon Bucket Orkestra will perform on July 31. Other performances, such as the Spanish Harlem Orchestra, and Steep Canyon Rangers, are set to perform later in August.
Residents and visitors to the county can also stop by Scotia’s Freedom Park for more fantastic performances. The Refrigerators, a popular party-rock band, are set to perform on July 27. Other great talents contributing to the summer lineup include Quintocracy, SIRSY, Heard, and many more.
Come out to any of these concert series above and enjoy some great summer events!
