SunSquabi Releases ‘Elephant Song’ Single Featuring Dominic Lalli

SunSquabi dropped the new single “Elephant Song” today featuring Big Gigantic saxophonist/producer Dominic Lalli. The Colorado-based livetronica trio debuted the song live last month with Lalli at the Electric Forest festival in Rothbury, Michigan.

“Elephant Song” marks the first release of new music from SunSquabi’s time in the studio since the pandemic started. Lalli contributed alto saxophone to the hard-hitting, six-minute instrumental. The song was birthed from an improvised jam played as part of a SunSquabi livestream performance early in the pandemic.

SunSquabi guitarist Kevin Donohue shared the following about “Elephant Song”:

“Elephants represent luck, good strength, and loyalty. ‘Elephant Song’ represents us sticking together and sharing the ability to write songs even though everything was shut down. It’s about realizing what you have and using your strength and the family around you, which is what Elephants do. It felt like it needed a lead voice, so it was natural to include Dom. Big Gigantic was a big influence for us to start SunSquabi. We’re integrating the electronic side of things into hip-hop, funk, and rock.”
