Tedeschi Trucks Band and Los Lobos once again traded sit-ins at their Wheels Of Soul Tour 2022 stop on Tuesday. Both bands brought out members of the other band during their sets at the Filene Center at Wolf Trap in Vienna, Virginia.
Los Lobos took the stage first and performed without guitarist David Hidalgo. TTB keyboardistGabe Dixon, trombonist Elizabeth Lea and saxophonist Kebbi Williams came out to assist Los Lobos on a cover of “Oye Como Va.” Dixon came back at the end of Los Lobos’ set, accompanied by Susan Tedeschi, for a collaborative take on Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Going On.”
Tedeschi Trucks Band started their set with “Playing With My Emotions” from their recently released album, I Am The Moon: II. Ascension. Los Lobos’ Steve Berlin joined the TTB horn section on the opener. In the middle of the headliners’ set, Los Lobos percussionist Alfredo Ortiz augmented a performance of “Pasaquan” from TTB’s I Am The Moon: I. Crescent that also came out recently.
