Tedeschi Trucks Band continued their Wheels Of Soul Tour 2022 at the TD Pavilion at The Mann in Philadelphia on Friday. The group led by guitarist Derek Trucks and guitarist/vocalist Susan Tedeschi welcomed members of their Wheels Of Soul Tour mates Los Lobos for a pair of covers.
TTB got the show underway with a complete performance of the first installment in their four part I Am The Moon studio album/film project. I Am The Moon: I. Crescent includes the songs “Hear My Dear,” “Fall In,” “I Am The Moon,” “Circles ‘Round The Sun” and “Pasaquan.”
The band continued with “Anyhow” and “Do I Look Worried” from their 2016 album Let Me Get By and their 2013 LP Made Up Mind respectively. Next, TTB included “So Long Savior” from I Am The Moon: II. Ascension and would perform that album’s “La Di Da” and “Playing With My Emotions” in the concert as well.
Following “So Long Savior,” Los Lobos members David Hidalgo, Louie Perez and Steve Berlin joined in beginning with a cover of War’s “The World Is A Ghetto.” TTB’s Alecia Chakour would lead off before being joined by fellow vocalists Mike Mattison and Mark Rivers to sing the first verse and chorus. Hidalgo helmed the second verse before the vocalists joined back in on the chorus ahead of a sax solo from Berlin followed by Trucks and Hidalgo swapping riffs.
The Los Lobos members stayed on for Derek & The Dominos’ “Keep On Growing.” Susan led the band through the tune ahead of the jam which saw Perez taking a run and all three guitarists Hidalgo, Trucks and Perez, intertwining well together. The Los Lobos members departed and TTB continued with classics like “Midnight in Harlem” and “Bound For Glory” to close out the set. Following the aforementioned “Playing With My Emotions,” Tedeschi Trucks Band wrapped the encore and evening with “Got What You Deserve” from the Derek Trucks Band catalog.
