Punch Brothers shared video featuring a cover of Sufjan Stevens’ “Mystery Of Love” with special guests Watchhouse. The clip comes from the Punch Brothers’ “Nightgrass” performance at Sheridan Opera House on June 19 during the Telluride Bluegrass Festival in Colorado.
Punch Brothers will bring Watchhouse aboard for the second iteration of the former’s American Acoustic Tour. The Telluride collaboration between the bands on Sufjan Stevens’ “Mystery Of Love” — originally appearing on the soundtrack to the 2017 film Call Me by Your Name — acts as a preview of sorts for the upcoming tour.
After welcoming Watchhouse — Emily Frantz and Andrew Marlin — Punch Brothers mandolinist Chris Thile spoke about the American Acoustic Tour and stated, “Since we were all here today, we thought we’d get a head start on that stuff. And thought of this number by the great Sufjan Stevens.”
