Willie Nelson joined Kacey Musgraves during her set at Palomino Festival in Pasadena, California on Saturday at Brookside at the Rose Bowl. Musgraves welcomed Willie for a rendition of his classic “On The Road Again.”
Both Nelson and Musgraves were among the headliners at the one-day event. For her set Kacey focused equally on material from her two most recent and critically acclaimed albums, 2018’s Golden Hour and 2021’s star-crossed, opening up with the title track from the latter. The singer-songwriter also included “good wife” and “ simple times” from her latest record before turning to material from Golden Hour including its title track and “High Horse,” after which she welcomed Willie.
“So my actual grandpa is here in the audience tonight from Texas,” Musgraves said. “And my other grandpa is here tonight from Texas,” she continued as Willie took the stage. Nelson jumped right into his timeless 1980 hit “On The Road Again.” Kacey then handled the second verse and the country stars would duet for the rest of the tune, which also featured the song’s instantly recognizable solo from Willie on his famed guitar Trigger.
