43

Arctic Monkeys will issue their first studio album in four years, The Car, on October 21 via Domino. Frontman Alex Turner and company previewed the new LP with the lead single “There’d Better Be A Mirrorball.”

The Car follows Arctic Monkeys’ 2018 studio album Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino as well as a live record, 2020’s Live At Royal Albert Hall. The English rockers split time recording the 10 Turner-penned tracks at Butley Priory in Suffolk, RAK Studios in London and La Frette in Paris. Frequnet Arctic Monkeys collaborator James Ford produced the new record.

The Car finds Arctic Monkeys running wild in a new and sumptuous musical landscape,” press materials for the new LP noted, “and contains some of the richest and most rewarding vocal performances of Alex Turner’s career.”

Turner also directed the music video for lead single and opening track, “There’d Better Be A Mirrorball.” Watch it below:
