Porno for Pyros welcomed frontman Billy Corgan for a cover of Led Zeppelin’s “When The Levee Breaks” at Lollapalooza in Chicago on Sunday. Perry Farrell added Porno For Pyros to the lineup of the festival at Grant Park after his other band, Jane’s Addiction was unable to perform as guitarist Dave Navarro deals with long COVID.
Farrell recently reunited the band for their first proper concert in 24 years to fill in for Jane’s Addiction at Welcome To Rockville in May after the group initially contributed to a Lollapalooza 2020 livestream. The original lineup of Perry Farrell, drummer Stephen Perkins, guitarist Peter DiStefano and bassist Martyn LeNoble as well as backing vocalists/dancers played a Lollapalooza aftershow on Saturday at Chicago’s Metro before taking the stage at Grant Park on Sunday.
“When The Levee Breaks” came towards the end of Porno For Pyros’ hour-long, 13-song Lollapalooza 2022 set. “I love you all Chicago,” Farrell told the crowd to start his Billy Corgan introduction. “We want to do a proper Chicago song for you together,” Perry added. Porno For Pyros also played seven songs from their self-titled 1993 debut studio album and five off 1996’s Good God’s Urge.
