Black Pumas announced a decision to “press pause” and suspend touring for the remainder of 2022. The Austin-based group led by singer/guitarist Eric Burton and guitarist/producer Adrian Quesada revealed the cancelation of their tour dates in a statement posted on the band’s social feeds.

“After four incredible years of career milestones and unforgettable live experiences around the world, we have made the difficult decision to press pause and step away from touring for the rest of the year,” wrote Black Pumas. “We have the best fans in the world and appreciate each and every one of you for your support and understanding. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to know you better.”

Black Pumas burst onto the scene with their self-titled debut album in 2019. The group toured extensively around the world ever since and garnered six Grammy nominations.

Included among the band’s now-canceled plans were a series of festival appearances. The Roots replaced Black Pumas on the Sound On Sound Music Festival’s inaugural lineup, while Suwannee Hulaween organizers are “hard at work finding a replacement.” Additionally, the Sacred Rose team noted “we are unlikely to find someone to fill [Black Pumas’] shoes” and Dave Matthews Band tapped Mt. Joy to join the The Gorge lineup in opening at the Washington State venue on Sunday, September 4.
