Dave Matthews Band shared pro-shot video of “Sweet Up And Down.” The footage comes from DMB’s October 8, 2021 concert at Fiddler’s Green near Denver.
Dave Matthews Band debuted the unreleased “Sweet Up And Down” on June 19, 2000 in Columbus, Ohio, as per DMB Almanac. While in heavy rotation in Summer 2000, the song was subsequently shelved until 2007 and again until 2010 after which it was absent for a decade. DMB dusted it off once again on February 28, 2020 in Las Vegas just ahead of the pandemic pause. The song fell back into rotation throughout 2021 with the October 8 Fiddler’s Green version marking the penultimate rendition that year.
Dave Matthews Band kicked off the first of two nights at the Colorado amphitheatre with a massive “Seek Up,” which clocked in at over 17 minutes. Additional classics like “Satellite” as well companion songs “Pantala Naga Pampa” and “Rapunzel” followed. After “Squirm” and “Stay Or Leave,” “Sweet Up And Down” fell in the sixth slot. As per usual, Dave broke out his 12-string acoustic guitar for the tune, which also features smoking solos from keyboardist Buddy Strong and saxophonist Jeff Coffin. Dave Matthews Band returns to Fiddler’s Green on September 9 and 10.
