Electric Beethoven Releases ‘New Path’ Single Featuring Karl Denson

Reed Mathis and Electric Beethoven shared a new single, “New Path,” featuring saxophonist Karl Denson. The track is the latest in a series of singles from Electric Beethoven released via Color Red.

Reed Mathis and Electric Beethoven have a new double LP in the works, Hear No Evil. Previous releases include “Ramps & Vamps,” “To Love The World,” “The Path” and more.

With “New Path,” Mathis enlisted renowned saxophonist Karl Denson (Rolling Stones, Greyboy Allstars, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe), who has been a longtime friend and mentor since sitting in with Reed’s first band Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey. “New Path” sees Mathis and Denson reimagining the second movement of Beethoven’s Piano Sonata #8 through the lens of bebop master Charlie Parker and his Charlie Parker With Strings album. Mathis laid down the initial electric guitar with The String Cheese Incident’s Jason Hann providing drums while keyboardist Todd Stoops added synth basslines.
