Greensky Bluegrass Unveils Alternate ‘Uh Huh’ Arrangement & Unshelve Covers In Kentucky

23

Greensky Bluegrass stopped by MegaCorp Pavilion in Newport, Kentucky just across the Ohio river from Cincinnati on Thursday. The quintet showcased a new “Fo Sho, Uh Huh” routine and also busted out the Joe Walsh-penned James Gang favorite “Walk Away.”

GSBG kicked off the concert with the staple “Jaywalking” before busting out their cover of Dire Straits’ “Money For Nothing” for the first time in 81 shows, as per Phantasy Tour. “Room Without A Roof” and “Courage For The Road” came next.

The seventh performance of “Get Sad” from the band’s 2022 album Stress Dreams followed ahead of “Merely Avoiding” and “What You Need.” The quintet then offered their cover of Jimmy Martin’s “Hit Parade Of Love” followed by “Cold Feet” with the title track to the band’s s 2019 LP, All For Money, capping off the first frame.

A pairing of Benny Burle Galloway’s “What’s Left Of The Night” and the original “Miss September” launched the second set. More Burle in “Train Junkie” followed ahead of Stress Dreams cut “Monument.” The band then unveiled their new “Fo Sho, Uh Huh” arrangement. Never bereft of shenanigans, the Newport, Kentucky rendition saw mandolinist Paul Hoffman and dobroist Anders Beck switching up their vocal roles.

Next, All For Money’s “Do It Alone” proceeded vintage staple, “The Radio Blues,” followed by “Forget Everything.” Anders then led the band through his always eventful “Broke Mountain Breakdown,” which encompassed “Walk Away,” last time played nearly one year to the day on August 27, 2021. Anders brought the band into the tune with some tasty dobro work before Hoffman took over on lead vocals. The coda also saw a spicy exchange between the mandolinist and dobro player. Beck slid the band back into “Broke Mountain Breakdown” to seal the evening.
