Guster presented their On The Ocean Weekend 2022 concerts in Maine this past Friday through Sunday. The band, who today announced a series of fall tour dates, played an impromptu song for a couple who left their own wedding to attend Saturday’s show at Portland, Maine’s State Theatre.
“We spotted a bride and groom watching the show from the side of the stage and so we made them come join us,” explained Guster in an Instagram post. “Turns out they got married next door and the reception was still happening. Kelsey and Mike skipped out on their own wedding!”
Guster lead singer and multi-instrumentalist Ryan Miller invited Mike and Kelsey Zakarian to the center of the State Theatre stage after noticing the couple who were clearly dressed for their wedding. Miller and his bandmates serenaded the pair with a tune that included such lyrics as “This is Kelsey and Mike’s song, their wedding day and we invited them on stage tonight” and “This is a really special song and we’re gonna play along to Kelsey and Mike.”
Ryan eventually asked the couple how the wedding went when Mike informed him the affair was still in progress. “The reception was going on while we were on stage,” Mike Zakarian confirmed to a fan who asked him about the situation on Instagram. After Guster finished the song, Miller wished the couple well and the band proceeded with the show.

Guster will embark on The Road To Carnegie (Hall) tour this fall. The trek runs from a concert on November 2 in Flagstaff, Arizona through a performance at the iconic Carnegie Hall in New York City on November 25. Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, St. Louis, Detroit and Washington D.C. are among the cities Guster will play over the course of the tour.
Tickets for most shows go on sale this Friday, August 19 at 12 p.m. local venue time. Carnegie Hall tickets can be purchased starting on Thursday, August 18 at 11 a.m. ET. Buy Guster tickets on Ticketmaster.
