81

Hardly Strictly Bluegrass revealed the third round of its 2022 lineup, including Béla Fleck‘s My Bluegrass Heart, Bonny Light Horseman, Rhiannon Giddens & Francesco Turrisi and more. Additionally, organizers for the free music festival returning to San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park September 30 – October 2 confirmed its “Out Of The Park” lineup of nighttime, post-festival concerts.

Waxahatchee, Danielle Ponder, Ismay, Jay Som, Amythyst Kiah, Aoife O’Donovan and Rainbow Girls are also newly confirmed to perform at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass. Today’s third round of acts follow two previous announcements that included such artists as Emmylou Harris, Allison Russell, Sam Bush, Lucius, Galactic and Antibalas. Look for the fourth and final lineup announcement next month.

Hardly Strictly Bluegrass partners with local venues for the “Out Of The Park” concerts. Each show is ticketed separately with $1.00 per ticket donated to Bay Area non-profit Music In Schools Today. The organization’s mantra “is to provide joyful music and arts programs that promote social emotional learning, literacy and social justice through the healing power of music.”

On the night of September 30, Aoife O’Donovan will play Little Saint in Healdsburg, California while Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley, California will host The Waco Brothers & Bob Schneider as well as a Hazel Dickens Documentary screening. Marcus Mumford takes the stage for an “Out Of The Park” concert with Danielle Ponder at night on October 1. Other nighttime options on the 1st include Antibalas at Sweetwater, Sarah Shook & The Disarmers at Little Saint and a celebration of Hyde Street Studios 40th Anniversary featuring Jimmie Dale Gilmore at San Francisco’s Alcazar Theater.

Bonny Light Horseman continues the “Out Of The Park” concert series with an evening performance at San Francisco’s Palace Of Fine Arts on Sunday, October 2. Finally, The Chapel in San Francisco hosts Moonalice and a Summer Of Soul screening on Tuesday, October 4 to conclude the series.

Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival performances take place at Hellman Hollow, Lindley and Marx meadows in Golden Gate Park. The music runs from 1 – 7 p.m. on Friday, September 30 and from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. on Saturday, October 1 and Sunday, October 2. Click below for the lineup as it currently stands and more information.
