59

Singer-songwriter Jim Lauderdale will release a new album, Game Changer, on August 26 through Sky Crunch Records. The album’s latest single, “Friends Again,” premieres today exclusively here at JamBase.

A 2022 Nashville Songwriters Hall Of Fame nominee, Lauderdale recorded Game Changer at Blackbird Studios in Nashville. The album, Lauderdale’s 35th full-length release, serves as the follow-up to 2021’s Hope. Lauderdale once again worked with with Hope co-producer Jay Weaver on Game Changer.

Joining Lauderdale on “Friends Again” was Steve Hinson on pedal steel guitar and dobro, Craig Smith on electric guitar, Wes L’ Anglois on acoustic guitar, Micah Hulscher on keyboards, Dave Racine on drums/percussion, Lillie Mae Rische and Frank Rische on backing vocals and Weaver on bass. Regarding “Friends Again,” Lauderdale told JamBase:

“This song is a celebration of that wonderful time of reconciliation between people who were once close and can rekindle that bond between them. The title and melody hit me at once and I just thought of that situation that we all hopefully get to go through after a falling out. To literally be friends again!”

Lauderdale previously shared the album’s track, “That Kind Of Life (That Kind Of Day).” Watch the lyric video for Jim Lauderdale’s new single, “Friends Again,” below:
