Joe Russo’s Almost Dead Shares Boston 2021 Live Recording

Joe Russo’s Almost Dead shared a live recording of their August 23, 2021 concert from Boston’s Leader Bank Pavilion. The show saw Jon Shaw subbing for bassist Dave Dreiwitz and featured two seamless sets full of Grateful Dead classics.

JRAD got the show underway with the vintage “Golden Road (To Unlimited Devotion)” before heading into “Estimated Prophet,” “New Speedway Boogie” and a nearly 17-minute “Playing In The Band.” “Wharf Rat” followed ahead of set one closer, an expansive “The Other One.”

The second set kicked off with “I Need A Miracle” which flowed into “China Cat Sunflower” and an 18-minute “Eyes Of The World,” which boasted a bass solo from Shaw. JRAD kept up the jams with a monster “Dancing In The Street” clocking in at nearly 23 minutes and containing elements of Herbie Hancock’s “Chameleon.” “Dancing” headed into “I Know You Rider” to conclude the concert, which had to be cut short due to lightning.

Following a California swing and a SPAC play, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead return to Leader Bank Pavilion later this month ahead of a fall stint and NYE run in Colorado. Check out their itinerary below:
