Margo Price & Cory Wong Join Goose At Sacred Rose

59

Goose brought out artist-at-large Margo Price to help sing “Don’t Do It” during the band’s set Saturday at the Sacred Rose music festival. Fellow fest performer Cory Wong also sat in with Goose on their original “Hot Tea.”

Goose, who on Friday night played the THING festival near Seattle, began their set Saturday at SeatGeek Stadium outside Chicago with “Pancakes.” The band jammed on the song from multi-instrumentalist Peter Anspach‘s Great Blue side-project that was debuted by Goose earlier this year and followed with the setlist staple “Madhuvan,” which served up more improvisation. A pair of songs that appeared on Goose’s 2022 studio album Dripfield came next, with “Borne” attached to a lengthy “Arrow.”

Price then emerged with tambourine in hand as Goose launched into “Don’t Do It.” Price accompanied Goose guitarist Rick Mitarotonda on lead vocals on The Band’s arrangement of the song first recorded by Marvin Gaye as “Baby Don’t You Do It.”

The fest’s artist-at-large exited and Wong came on to add his guitar to the aforementioned “Hot Tea.” Goose concluded their Sacred Rose set and their Dripfield Summer Tour with the Dripfield title track.
