Rage Against The Machine canceled their upcoming tour dates in the UK and Europe due to an injury suffered by frontman Zack de la Rocha during the band’s concert in Chicago on July 11. The group will move forward with the final shows of a five-concert run at New York City’s Madison Square Garden tonight, tomorrow and on Sunday.
“Per medical guidance, Zack de la Rocha has been advised that the August and September 2022 UK and European leg of the Rage Against The Machine tour cannot proceed,” started a note from RATM shared on social feeds. “It is with great disappointment that we announce this cancellation.”
The statement went on to explain the vocalist will head home “for rest and rehabilitation” after the MSG run concludes. “The flights, travel time, and rigorous schedule in the UK and Europe are simply too much of a risk for a complete recovery,” added the band.
Zack de la Rocha, guitarist Tom Morello, bassist Tim Commerford and drummer Brad Wilk began the North American leg of their reunion tour at Alpine Valley in East Troy, Wisconsin on August 9 after multiple postponements due to COVID-19. The vocalist hurt his leg at the second stop of the trek a few nights later and has been performing mostly from a seated position since.
The canceled leg includes shows originally scheduled for later this month and in September. Refunds for headlining concerts are available via point of purchase.
