Umphrey’s McGee unveiled the official music video for “New Wings.” The song appears on the sextet’s recently released studio album, Asking For A Friend.
Asking For A Friend was tracked over the past two and a half years and arrived on July 1. The 14-track was created in large part while the band was off the road due to the pandemic.
The “New Wings” video combines footage and photos from the recording sessions with images of “The House Of UM” dreamed up by director Pete Herzog. “‘New Wings’ is a catchy number that feels like 2021 yacht rock prog,” explained UM when the single was released. “[Guitarist] Brendan’s [Bayliss] layered vocals and memorable choruses trading lines give it a unique and singable quality. [Guitarist] Jake [Cinninger] lays down some incredible lines as it fades into the distance.”
