Watch My Morning Jacket Work The Beatles’ ‘Here Comes The Sun’ Lyrics Into ‘Dondante’ At Red Rocks

My Morning Jacket kicked off a two-night run at Red Rocks on Friday. MMJ frontman Jim James fit in an interesting interpolation of The Beatles’ “Here Comes The Sun” within “Dondante” at the iconic Colorado amphitheate.

My Morning Jacket slotted “Dondante,” the closer on the band’s 2005 album Z, into the 15th spot in their 23-song set and encore. James led the band through the tune before the group got into an ominous jam. James then worked in George Harrison’s upbeat lyrics to “Here Comes The Sun,” which offered a fantastic contrast to the dark jam. All told “Dondante” stretched to around 14 minutes.
