Nick Cave’s upcoming memoir, Faith, Hope and Carnage, will also be released as an audiobook. The audiobook will be narrated by Cave and his friend and journalist Seán O’Hagan, whose interviews with Cave form the basis of the memoir.
The project has been directed and produced by Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard, who collaborated with Cave on the quasi-documentary film 20,000 Days On Earth.
Nick Cave to Narrate ‘Faith, Hope and Carnage’ Audiobook
The audiobook features “sixteen musical codas” and elements from the Carnage, Skeleton Tree and Ghosteen albums, as well as an exclusive 12-minute conversation between O’Hagan and Cave. The audiobook gives listeners the impression of being privy to an intimate conversation between old friends.
“Working with Nick over the years has had a fundamental impact on who we are, on how we are,”’ Forsyth and Pollard said in a statement. “For this audiobook we wanted to give you a direct experience – a seat at the table with Nick and Seán – two incandescent minds trying to just figure things out. Intimate, adventurous, faltering and fearless, these conversations will open your mind and heal your heart.”
Faith, Hope and Carnage was created from over 40 hours of intimate conversations between Cave and O’Hagan. It covers themes of faith, music, freedom, love and grief, tracking Cave’s life from early childhood to the present day.
Faith, Hope and Carnage is out on Tuesday, 20th September.
