Circles Around The Sun brought the Language 2022 Tour to Deep Ellum Art Company in Dallas, TX on Friday. The psychedelic jam ensemble founded by the late Neal Casal was joined by pedal steel player Will Van Horn, who opened the show with his eponymous trio.

Having collaborated with the likes of Khruangbin, Orville Peck, and Leon Bridges, Will Van Horn has helped to redefine what the pedal steel can be. Drawing from a wide range of genres including EDM, ’90s country, psych rock, and world music, his debut album, Pedal Steel Guitar, brings the instrument into the 21st century, adapting its classic sound for the modern listener.

After an opening set from Will Van Horn, Adam MacDougall, Dan Horne, Mark Levy, and John Lee Shannon took the stage for a set of instrumental jams including songs from their latest album, simply titled Circles Around The Sun. The band is currently in the midst of the Language 2022 fall tour, with dates scheduled throughout the rest of September and into October, including upcoming festival appearances at Santa Cruz Mountain Sol Fest, Hillberry Music Festival, and Suwannee Halloween.
