Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit will perform at First Avenue in Minneapolis on Saturday, September 24. The special concert will coincide with the band’s name being added to a star on the exterior wall of the longstanding Twin Cities music venue.
Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit’s name will appear alongside many other musicians who have played at First Ave. According to the venue’s website, “In the summer of 2010, First Avenue gave itself a much-needed paint job. After painting over the old artwork on the building, the stars returned with favorites from the past, present, and blank stars for the future.”
Among those whose names have received stars includes Phish, Widespread Panic, Ween, Umphrey’s McGee, Wilco and Isbell’s former band Drive-By Truckers. Local legend Prince, who filmed his movie Purple Rain at First Ave, also has a star, alongside The Replacements, Low, The Hold Steady, Trampled By Turtles, Golden Smog and dozens of others.
A pre-sale for Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit’s First Avenue concert begins tomorrow, Thursday, September 8 at 10 a.m. CT. Tickets go on sale to the general public this Friday, September 9 at 10 a.m. CT via AXS.
