Margo Price Announces New Album ‘Strays’ & Shares Single

Margo Price announced a new album entitled Strays featuring the single “Change Of Heart.” Price will embark on the ‘Til The Wheels Fall Off Tour in support of the forthcoming release which begins in late November and continues into March 2023.

Price will issue Strays on January 13 via Loma Vista Recordings. The follow-up to her 2020 album, That’s How Rumors Get Started, was co-produced by Price and Jonathan Wilson and recorded at his Fivestar Studios located in California’s Topanga Canyon.

Price and her husband, fellow singer-songwriter Jeremy Ivey, wrote some of the songs on Strays during a trip to South Carolina in 2020. Ivey talked about the experience on an episode of The JamBase Podcast.

“We took a trip – I guess now it’s been a couple of weeks – and Margo’s mom and her sister watched the kids and we went to Charleston and got an Airbnb,” Ivey said. “We just stayed in the house and we were gonna work on her next record. We ate some mushrooms … We had a conversation when we had some mushrooms and 11 songs came from that conversation … It’s something that you can’t force and can’t take for granted.”

The 10-song Strays features Price backed by her longtime band the Pricetags. Guests on Strays include Sharon Van Etten, Mike Campbell and Lucius. Regarding her fourth studio album, Price stated:

“I feel this urgency to keep moving, keep creating. You get stuck in the same patterns of thinking, the same loops of addiction. But there comes a point where you just have to say, ‘I’m going to be here, I’m going to enjoy it, and I’m not going to put so much stock into checking the boxes for everyone else.’ I feel more mature in the way that I write now, I’m on more than just a search for large crowds and accolades. I’m trying to find what my soul needs.”

Tickets to Price’s ‘Til The Wheels Fall Off Tour go on sale this Friday, September 23 at 10 a.m. local venue time. The tour will see Price headlining more than 30 dates with shows scheduled at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium, New York’s Webster Hall, Los Angeles’ Fonda Theatre and more. Find further details below.
