Mdou Moctar delivered a Live On KEXP performance on location at THING Festival in Port Townsend, Washington. The Tuareg guitarist and his band offered songs from their 2021 album Afrique Victime and more for the Seattle independent radio station’s video performance series.
Frontman and lead guitarist Mahamadou “Mdou Moctar” Souleyman, rhythm guitarist Ahmoudou Madassane, bassist Mikey Coltun and drummer Souleymane Ibrahim got their KEXP session underway with Afrique Victime’s “Ya Habibti.” The quartet continued with the LP’s “Chismiten” followed by the non-Afrique Victime cut “Takoba.” Mdou Moctar closed out their KEXP session with the title track to Afrique Victime.
