Phish will return to its home-away-from-home at Madison Square Garden for a 2022 New Year’s Eve run, the band announced on Tuesday. The four-night stand at the New York City arena will take place Wednesday, December 28th through Saturday, December 31st.
A ticket request period for the 2022 Phish New Year’s Eve run is currently underway via the band’s ticketing website and will run through Monday, October 3rd at 12 p.m. ET. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Friday, October 7th at 12 p.m. ET. A limited number of travel packages including hotel and tickets will go on sale on Thursday, October 6th at 12 p.m. ET.
The 2022–2023 celebration will mark Phish’s first proper New Year’s Eve run at Madison Square Garden since 2019 when the band sent in the clones and Trey Anastasio christened the Rescue Squad. After plans for a 2020 run were thwarted by COVID, the band was all set to ring in 2022 with its return to the World’s Most Famous Arena. Unfortunately, a winter surge in COVID cases due to the Omicron variant pushed the four-night stand to mid-April while Phish celebrated the new year with a fan-less livestream from “The Ninth Cube.” Phish ultimately made its triumphant return to the Garden for a four-night run, staging an aquarium-themed three-set make-up show before embarking on a combined spring/summer tour.
