Garden State upstarts Dogs In A Pile made their Denver debut with a late-night show at Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom on Thursday. The show followed Phish‘s first of four nights at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.
After making a splash on the Jersey Shore with their high-energy jam-heavy performances, Dogs In A Pile have had a landmark year in 2022. The band recently played sold-out shows at Asbury Park, NJ’s Stone Pony and Garcia’s at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY. They subsequently announced tour dates with Twiddle and Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, including the former’s Frendsgiving and NYE celebrations. The band arrived in Colorado earlier this week and, apparently excited for its first journey to the West, posted a group photo with the comment, “We flew y’all.”
The young quintet continued its first-ever Colorado run with a very special dual-room Phish after-party at Cervante’s Masterpiece Ballroom with Purple Party: A Tribute To Prince featuring members of The Motet, Trey Anastasio Band, The Nth Power, John Mayer/D’Angelo‘s bands, former members of Turkuaz, and more. Dogs In A Pile played on the Other Side while Purple Party took over Cervantes’ main stage.
