The Beatles Prep ‘Revolver’ Special Edition Reissues

The Beatles’ groundbreaking 1966 album Revolver has received the special edition reissue treatment. The newly mixed and expanded special edition packages are set to arrive on October 28 via Apple Corps Ltd./Capitol/UMe, with a preview of the collection featuring a new mix of the album’s opening track, “Taxman,” available to listen to today.

Arriving in Summer 1966, Revolver initiated a psychedelic sea change that forever altered the landscape of popular music and set the table for the equally momentous Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Heart Club Band in 1967. The Revolver reissue contains the album’s original 14 tracks newly mixed by producer Giles Martin, son of Beatles producer George Martin, and engineer Sam Okell in stereo and Dolby Atmos as well as the original mono mix sourced from the 1966 mono master tape.

The physical and digital super deluxe collections also boast a treasure trove of behind-the-scenes material from the album sessions including 28 early takes and three home demos. Additionally, the collection includes a four-track EP with new stereo mixes and remastered original mono mixes for “Paperback Writer” and “Rain” — two songs from the sessions released as singles that did not appear on the album — and more.
