The National Welcomes Lucy Dacus At Red Rocks

46

The National brought out Lucy Dacus for a performance of “Rylan” during their concert at Red Rocks Amphitheatre near Denver on Monday. Dacus kicked off the evening with a set of her own before The National took the stage.

Lucy dueted with The National frontman Matt Berninger on “Rylan” towards the end of The National’s main set at the famed Morrison, Colorado venue. The song dates back to 2011 but was shelved until 2017 after five performances that year. A studio version appears on The National’s latest studio album, 2019’s I Am Easy To Find.

The National turned in a 23-song show at Red Rocks last night. Berninger and his bandmates went heavy on material from 2013’s Trouble Will Find Me and 2010’s High Violet with six and four songs from the albums making the setlist respectively. “Don’t Swallow The Cap” from Trouble Will Find Me began the main set with “Graceless,” “Pink Rabbits” and “This Is The Last Time” among other songs off the LP played at Red Rocks.

“Bloodbuzz Ohio” filled the four-slot and was the first song from High Violet performed last night. The National also treated fans to recently debuted material as “Grease In Your Hair (Birdie)” and “Tropic Morning News (Haversham)” came towards the middle of the evening. Additionally, the band played its new single, “Weird Goodbyes” to start a four-song encore that also included “Mr. November,” “Terrible Love” and “About Today.”

The National continues their current North American tour tonight in Kansas City.
